Review of Batman: The Killing Joke (2016) by Sam M — 25 Jul 2016
I see why it's polarizing, I think a lot of people wanted very much to like it and either watched with rose colored glasses or were furious for it not meeting expectations. For me it was OK, which is disappointing cause I wanted it to be great and it had its moments where it was.
the beginning is a bit off track but it's well done, entertaining, and sets up the stakes for later. The joker himself was everything I asked for and mark hamil was in fine form in a character that many have done well but (to me) is quintessentially his.
Jim Gordon's bit felt rushed, which was where it began to fall apart, and I really can't defend the ending, of which enough has been said already. in short, it's a perfectly passable movie that delivers in its devious charm but ultimately falls short of the event we all hoped for.
