Review of Batman: The Killing Joke (2016) by Bo K — 26 Jul 2016
The Killing Joke is the news DC animated film and stars Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill once again as Batman and Joker. After such a long wait and hype for this movie its finally out. The movie itself is actually pretty good but isn't without its faults.
The first act is a story that follows Batgirl on a hunt for a criminal and while it was cool to see it really doesn't the in at all with the actual Killing Joke plot other than giving Batgirl some character so that you can feel for her character more when later events happen.
It really wasn't needed and they could have just had Joker be the villain for that first act which would have tied everything better. Once the real plot starts things get rolling and its just like the iconic comic book and follows the plot pretty close and does it justice.
I really liked how Joker was sadistic and how evil he is portrade. I really like the metaphors and imagery in the film and how it compares Batman and Joker. The ending also is fantastic . The R rating I feel isn't really deserved and it feel more like a marketing ploy.
Overall though I recommend it. 4/5.
