Review of Batman: The Killing Joke (2016) by Jun Woo P — 29 Jul 2016
I love the Batman character. I love the Killing Joke graphic novel by Alan Moore. I have reread that story countless times, and I was super pumped for this movie. After watching it, I thought it was just.
.. mediocre. I mean, the animation was good and Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy knock it out of park once again, along with Tara Strong, but there was this gnawing feeling in myself and I found myself to be surprisingly disappointed.
This isn't acceptable. They turned one of the most controversial and iconic Batman stories into a mediocre film. And I can see why they tried to flesh out Batgirl more by giving her a LOT more screen time than she does in the comics, but in the end it felt pointless and unneeded.
I cannot believe I am saying this, but if it wasn't for Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy I would have given it a 2 star.
