Review of Batman: The Killing Joke (2016) by Ryan K — 16 Aug 2016
First half was awful and the worst and unnecessary. The Killing Joke 2nd half is ok. Not great nor bad. The animation isn't as good as it could have been and the voice acting is great and holds well.
The dialogue thoughout goes from awful to meh. I was super dissapointed and this had a lot of potential and The Killing Joke is a monumental comic in the Dark Knight log of classics. It was portrayed horribly and the movie as a whole I felt like it didn't do the comic any service and this didn't deserve the R-rating either.
I was ok for it being rated R but other than some blood I didn't see why this was rated R. It could have been PG-13. The ending is also the most memorable and is executed so much differently in the comic where there is a sense of ambiguity that could work but didn't work at all in the animated movie.
Should have been better.
