Review of Batman: The Killing Joke (2016) by Toby S — 21 Jun 2017
I can understand why this movie gets a lot of poor reviews, but to be honest most of it seems to be aimed at the first third of the film. The actual Killing Joke part is brilliant, Mark Hamill is excellent as th Joker, as is Kevin Conroy; the animation is good and the story is true to the comic.
But unfortunately the initial third of the film brings the whole film down, the main problem of this part is the Bat-sex. The creators what to make us connect with Batgirl, ok, they want to show what she did before she gets paralysed, sure, but the could have done the same story, but make her chasing down the gangster the main plot and have her trying to prove herself to Batman, rather than the whole romantic relationship plot they have.
