Review of Batman: The Killing Joke (2016) by Aidan H — 10 Apr 2017
The Killing Joke is a fine film, but it wastes a promisingly brutal R rating on a few effective scenes and a baffling lack of f-bombs substituted for "frig" and "freak". Mark Hamill and Kevin Conory are great in their roles, and are definitely the highlight of the film.
The biggest issue I, and apparently everyone else seems to have with the film is the mundane and way too long opening involving batgirl and batman, which unfortunately leads nowhere in the second part of the film and is has no weight on what occurred with the jokers actions.
The rest of the movie is solid after this underwhelming first act, but I found it very hard to fully appreciate the movie as a whole due to some confusing choices by the team behind the film.
