Review of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 (2013) by Brendan N — 18 Jan 2013
It's interesting to see a film adaption of a beloved comic book. The film doesn't shy away from the blood and is definitely not a film for the younger viewers. This second half of the film is a triumph of design and allows the story to continue where the first half left off.
The impressive return of the joker as the ultimate villain. He marks a return after seeing batman overcoming obstacles from the first. He's voice acting is surprisingly low key unlike other actors which is a shame as he lacks the presence hamill gave him. Peter weller is an interesting choice for Bruce and continues the good work here. He gives batman a grand voice that no one has really captured.
This is the ultimate companion to the first half and it finishes with a grand showdown with superman. The scope of the film is grand and will hopefully set a new bench mark for cartoon adaptions.
Hopefully a take on kingdom come should be on the cards like a flash adaption but until then this is the best of the dc cartoons.
