Batman has always set the bar for excellence in regards to super hero movies. Even though George Clooney tried his damndest to kill off the dark knight, he has proven to prevail once more.
The Dark Knight Returns and more specifically Part 2 work so well not only as a great animated Batman movie, but as a great Batman movie in general.
I wish Michael Emerson's Joker was a tad more maniacal as far as the voice work goes -- but other than that absolutely fantastic.
