Review of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 (2013) by Mars D — 21 Oct 2013
As with part 1, the second half of the story is faithfully retold as in Miller's original work. This includes the anachronisms that come from a Cold War setting and his subtle-as-a-punch-from-Superman mocking of Reagan.
While the first half of the story is essentially Batman finding himself again after a long layoff, this story has the Dark Knight settling scores against his biggest rivals. The battle with the Joker was brilliantly done, even better than the graphic novel thanks to some fantasic voice acting.
And then there is Superman. The two go toe-to-toe, and we see why this mere mortal is capable of fighting what amounts to a demigod. Outstanding conclusion to the best adaptation WB & DC have done yet.
