Review of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 (2012) by Brendan N — 11 Sep 2012
Impressive adaption of the source I enjoyed this so much more then expected. these animation films are much more impressive then what marvel has done with the animation. Marvel have been much more successful on the big screen which is a shame but thats a completely different arguement.
Peter Weller is actually an interesting choice for Bruce Wayne and he does quite well. I thought the story was quite dark and definitely not for kids, for once the source material is not sacrificed for the rating. this first half absolutely owns the running time and it will be interesting to see how the next part compares.
DC animation really need to keep focusing on these type of films as they are well worth the time to watch. hopefully an adaption of Knightfall will be on the cards or even a longer jonah hex adaption.
