Whilst the inner monologue is scrapped in all but one integral set piece, taking with it some truly memorable quotes, Christopher Drake's score adds a whole new dimension to the desperation and brutality of Batman's plight, reflected also in the art direction.
Not the best comic book film, but the best straight-adaption of one. Essential viewing for fans of the original run, and highly recommended for those who may have missed what is widely regarded as the quintessential Batman.
