Review of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 (2012) by Kenny S — 16 Feb 2013
I don't know why the talent behind such freakin' AMAZING animated movies like "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns" aren't tapped to just make a live-action flick for WB/DC, already! This pretty dark and violent (even for me) adaptation of Frank Miller's work kept my attention all the way through, as Batman comes out of a 10-year retirement to once again kick ass and take names against the rising crime in Gotham city.
The epic musical score, great writing, combined with the gritty "realism", violence, and blood, drew me in and made me feel that I was "watching a movie", not just "watching an animated feature".
This is just Part 1 of 2 animated flicks, and I'm really looking forward to getting Part 2 in the mail... my understanding is he goes up against his former ally Superman, in a final battle that only one of them will survive.
"Batman: The Dark Knight Returns" part 1 and 2 are OBVIOUSLY a must-rent for any Batman fans out there (though I would strongly recommend that parents don't let their kids under 12 watch this stuff).
