Review of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 (2012) by Pampalini L — 11 Apr 2014
A fantastic adaption that not only reaches the heights of its source book, but actually exceeds it in many ways. Frank Miller's paneling is sometimes a little erratic, which works stylistically, but by filling in the gaps in this animation it breathes elegant and brutal new life into the sequences that I didn't appreciate in the graphic novel.
Superb music and voice work across the board, this (including part 2) is in my opinion a more fitting conclusion to the Nolan series than The Dark Knight Rises.
