Complete disrespect for the source material aside, this film runs strictly on Burton's aesthetic sensibilities while leaving the scripting and direction of the character actors chaotic and uneven. The plot is convoluted and dense while also ultimately being rather superfluous by the end.

The only strong points are that Michael Keaton is the best of the actors who played Batman in these movies, and Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman is fascinating to watch even if poorly designed and developed.

I just wish these good performers were not anchored to a director who does not care at all about the actors or the plot and only obsesses over his own set design.
