This is the crowning, towering, utterly brilliant instalment in the Batman franchsie. This dark, heartbroken, humanist approach to the film is so well drawn and executed that I am still staggered by it.
That's not to say it's without it's action set pieces, for it has those, but it's so insular and split (like Bruce Wayne) that it seems Burton finally understood the true dark heart of Batman.
A winner on all fronts. Casting, production design, direction, scoring and scripting.. all first class.
