We are treated to Tim Burton's full uncompromised vision of what a Batman film should be, and boy is it mesmerizing. The script may be a bit silly at times, but every actor brings their A game here.

Michelle Pfeiffer is sexy as Catwoman, Michael Keaton is great as Batman (he's not as dweeby here, and I bought him more here then I did in the original), Christopher Walken is great and creepy as Max Shreck, and Danny Devito is disgusting as The Penguin (he fits the role perfectly here).

The cherry on top is that the whole film takes place at Christmas time. The world design is fantastic as usual, but darker (as is the film). This sequel is the rare film to really get just how fucked up Batman really is (He's literally a man divided, and he's just as crazy as the villains he fights), which is also why the relationship between Catwoman and Batman works and makes sense.

She really is the closest thing to a soul mate he is likely to find. Batman Returns is a daring, brave, very sexual, ultra-dark, and twisted film. It's more for adults than anyone else, and despite it's few minor flaws I absolutely loved it.

This is Tim Burton at his absolute best.
