While no doubt great, dark entertainment, Batman Returns still has many flaws, from Catwoman's origin to the strange portrayal of The Penguin (although Devito's performance is well done), and not to mention Batman hardly returns throughout the whole flick, the film isn't as powerful as the first without the presence of Nicholson's Joker.
