Review of Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders (2016) by Michael M — 18 May 2017
A charmingly campy return to the 1960s Batman TV show, this time in animated format to hide the fact that the returning actors (especially Burt Ward as tge "teenage" Robin) are far too old for the parts. But it's a fun reunion nonetheless. Careful to never take itself too seriously, the film gives us some amazingly lame lines. You will never forget lines as beautiful as:
"Quickly, Robin! To the crosswalk!".
Or.
"Initiate bat countdown.".
Or.
"Truancy Takes Terrible Toll on Town.".
If you liked the series this will be outrageously good fun for you. It's self-aware, but never takes shots at the silliness of the show. Instead it seems eager to continue it. If you just want something dumb where Batman punches people and gives roaring speeches about the need to obey traffic laws when acting as a masked vigilante, then this is the film for you.
