Review of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993) by Sean C — 28 Jul 2008
An absolutely marvelous film given the fact that it came out in 1993. An obvious prelude to what Nolan has done with the live-action franchise. Just look for the Batman Begins and Dark Knight parallels.
My only problem with the film is that, while it starts out almost perfect and still maintains an admirable storyline worthy of the Nolans, the ending is a little cartoony (especially after the Joker tries to escape one scene with a jetpack).
These are minor gripes though. Overall, the movie is very, very impressive. Four/Four-and-a-half.
