Review of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993) by Wil C — 23 Jul 2010
As great as the Tim Burton films were, this animated feature was the first true Batman film, combining the dark tone of the comic books with a story that children would find engaging. The characters are wonderfully realised, the villain is menacing, and Mark Hamill's brief, but stunning, role as the Joker is one of the biggest highlights in the history of Batman's animated reign.
