Review of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993) by Zachary D — 16 Aug 2010
Batman: The Animated Series was one of the most revolutionary cartoons of its time, introducing a sense of maturity and seriousness that appealed to older audiences as much as kids. The first movie based on the series, "Mask of the Phantasm," is a wonderfully dark and mysterious tale that examines Bruce Wayne's romantic past and shows a vulnerable side of the Dark Knight rarely seen.
The animation is high-grade and the voice acting is superb -- most notably Mark Hamill as the Joker. This film is even better than at least half of the live-action installments.
