Review of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993) by Keenan S — 15 Aug 2011
This is without a doubt my favorite Batman film ever. I prefer it over all of the live-action films, and it's also one of my all-time favorite animated films, and also among my all-time favorite films period.
This film has everything that made the live-action films great, but also manages to excel at something almost all the live-action films have failed at, and that is the love interest (Only Selena Kyle from Batman Returns was an interesting love interest in the live-action films).
The storyline is surprisingly mature which surprises (And pisses off stupid parents who complain about it being too dark) many viewers, contains great villains, great characters, intense action, absolutely phenomenal music (This film's score is easily better than any of the live-action films, it's that good), and it's also the most emotionally-engaging.
I was gripped from beginning to end and found myself shocked at the plot twists and was enthralled by everything happening before me. I cannot recommend this film enough because it is absolutely amazing.
