Review of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993) by Ryan V — 27 Apr 2013
The Phantasm, a mysterious new vigilante, has come to Gotham City and has begun executing criminals in a grisly fashion. The police think that Batman has finally snapped, but the real Dark Knight (Kevin Conroy) connects these killings to the family of his old flame (Dana Delany).
The story, which goes back to Batman's early years with Citizen Kane-styled flashbacks, was put together by the same team that crafted the well received Batman: The Animated Series. This movie rises to the top of cinematic Bat-movies thanks to its compelling story, amazing voice cast, moving animation, and striking score by the underrated Shirley Walker.
