Review of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993) by Agustin M — 10 Oct 2010
The first and only theatrical animated Batman movie, and it's great. Based on "Batman: The Animated Series," this movie pits Batman against a deadly foe known as The Phantasm who is killing Gotham mob bosses, while Batman is framed by those murders. While Batman is having a hard time hunting down the Phantasm, Bruce's former fiance comes back to his life to further complicate it. Just throw in the Joker at the last minute and you got a great Batman movie.
Within it short 75 minutes, it is able to tell a great story and explain Bruce's origin to becoming Batman through flashbacks. The voice cast here is superb. Kevin Conroy voices both Batman and Bruce Wayne so great that it rivals Michael Keaton's performance. While Mark Hamill(Known for being Luke Skywalker from Star Wars) does another great job as the Joker: Easily, the best Joker of all time.
It's a great story with a great plot twist but sadly, it was ignored by the public in its original release. If you're a Batman fan, you must see it.
This movie gets my highest recommendation, SEE IT!
