Springing from the excellent television show, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm adapts the art deco visuals and quality writing of its serial predecessor to the big screen. Unfortunately, the film frequently feels like a very long episode rather than a full-fledged cinema release, a remnant perhaps of its original fate as a direct-to-video release.
