Review of Batman: Gotham Knight (2008) by Philip S — 21 Sep 2008
Worth a look for Batman fans this animated anthology is not as good as it could or should have been but it's still a mostly impressive collection.
The first story is awful,a totally pointless waste of time that should not have even been made.
The second story,CROSSFIRE is only marginally better but that doesn't mean it's good 'cos it isn't.
FIELD TEST is very good and Batman's costume in it is amazing,i'd love to see it in one of the films.A genuinely impressive piece.
IN DARKNESS DWELLS features the Scarecrow and Killer Croc and also is very good.
WORKING THROUGH PAIN is reminiscent of the training scenes in BATMAN BEGINS and this story too is very good and works very nicely along with the story in BATMAN BEGINS.
The best story is the last one,DEADSHOT which sees Batman facing off with a lethal assassin called DEADSHOT in spectacular style. The character of Deadshot is fantastic and he's screaming out ot be put in one of the current series' films. This story als feels like the most complete one.Excellent.
So over all, while the anthology doesn't fulfill it 's full potential it is,with the exception of the below par first two stories, well worth checking out.
