Review of Batman: Gotham Knight (2008) by Liam K — 08 Aug 2010
In the great tradition of storytelling, Batman: Gotham Knight is a great collage of Japanese anime that shows different stories that display not only the great origin of the Caped Crusader, but show his honest weaknesses as he battles many foes to say the least.
Since this is a collage, Gotham Knight delivers several different animated shorts by different anime artists, each devoted to telling tales of the Dark Knight in their own special way. The collection is almost like the Batman: the Animated Series episode Legends of the Dark Knight on acid.
Kevin Conroy reprises his most famous voice over but successfully changes and tweaks his tone for each short to make it feel somewhat authentic and separate from each one.
The animation is incredible, showing Japanese artists their attention to detail and precision with every frame of animation. To all Bat-Freaks and hardcore animation fans, this is the one.
