Review of Batman: Gotham Knight (2008) by Finn M — 19 Jul 2012
I saw this when it first came out, yet still it is frantic in my mind. The plot here has no objective. It is a collection of short films made by acclaimed anime directors. Each story has a different abstract representation of Batman with great art and even featuring the talent of Kevin Conroy, the true voice of Batman.
Albeit gruesome at times this is an amazing film. And as a Martial Art enthusiast myself, knowing info from the F.R.A.C.T fighting system to Karate to Krav Maga and even Kuk Sool. I can confidently vouch for the fantastical yet amazing Bruce Lee-like action sequences.
This is a very mixed set of films and features some of the darkest of the tapestry of Batman's rouge gallery. Such as favourites/favorites like Killer Croc and Scarecrow and others like Deadshot. An amazing set of films, some average, with amazing art and some of the best mainstream emotional moments in animation.
