Review of Batman Forever (1995) by Vadim D — 23 May 2014
Maybe it's nostalgia, but I have always enjoyed this chapter in the franchise. It's loud, colorful, and campy - and all in a good way! I think you have to be real geek to fully enjoy this picture, and I guess I am.
Carrey is the perfect Riddler; Val Kilmer is great as Batman; Kidman has just the right tone; O'Donnell is a great addition as Robin; and while it's hard to say that Tommy Lee Jones is a bit over the top in a movie that is across the board over the top, sometimes his performance works and sometimes it doesn't.
Don't forget great little roles by Barrymore and Mazar as Sugar and Spice! The soundtrack is fun as well. All in all, I find myself always enjoying this chapter in repeat viewings.
