Review of Batman Forever (1995) by Troy A — 09 Jul 2015
What a mess. I enjoyed the first two Batman movies but you can clearly tell the production team that made those films work jumped ship and good for them. Val Kilmer is just down right boring as Bruce Wayne/Batman and just was so wrong for this.
Jim Carrey sometimes went too far in his performance but he does a lot of great work even if it can be too much. Tommy Lee Jones just looks like he isn't haven't any fun with the role and he is one of those actors that I love in just about everything but he seemed to hold back a lot.
The make up was kind of tacky compared to the last two films but the costumes are still great. The production design/art direction is still great as is the sound and the music (even though it was blatant in not being Danny Elfman's creation).
The problem with this movie is it is just so boring and the action scenes aren't interesting at all. Nicole Kidman is good but has nothing to work with and the infamous Chris O'Donnell just was there and didn't do much for me.
Overall, just messy.
