Review of Batman Forever (1995) by Kieran F — 06 Jun 2013
Batman Forever stars Val Kilmer in his one turn as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Chris O'Donnell is Dick Grayson/Robin, Nicole Kidman is Doctor Meridian and the love interest of Bruce/Batman, Jim Carrey is the over the top and annoying Riddler while Tommy Lee Jones does an annoying, cackling Two-Face, essentially playing Two-Face as a second-rate homicidal Joker type.
Batman defeats both villains, Two-Face dying while Riddler is put in an asylum. The origin of Robin is tinkered with, Dick having parents and a brother and all three being killed by Two-Face. Robin proves more rebellious than in the comics. Joel Schumaker may be at fault for all the reasons this film doesn't work, such as the annoying henchmen of the villains and the annoying nature of The Riddler and of Two-Face. 5/10.
