Review of Batman Forever (1995) by Bill E — 12 Nov 2012
I must admit that I liked Batman Forever a lot. It was my second favorite of the pre-Nolan Batman films, just behind Batman Returns. I liked the neon-Gotham, as it still remained dark and mysterious, but also looked pretty cool.
It actually looked like a comic book. Tommy Lee Jones as Two Face was much better than I'd expected, and Jim Carrey as the Riddler really stole the show. Chris O'Donnell's Robin was a pretty good mature version of the character, and Michael Gough's Alfred finally got some screen time! Overall, Batman Forever was a bit better than Batman 1989, and just shy of Batman Returns quality.
