Review of Batman Forever (1995) by Lucas M — 20 Jun 2017
I like Keaton and Bale better, but Kilmer wasn't a bad choice for Bruce/Bats. Burton developed with the intention of directing Forever but His bosses yanked it away from him and gave it to Joel Schumacher.
The studio wanted to make it more family friendly. More families, more box office, kids buying more toys, makes good business sense. Ok now that the real agenda is out of the way, how was the movie? Eh.
I liked it quite a bit when I was 17, I see it's flaws and how it became the crap that came next. Burton's flavor is still in the air. Nicole Kidman is sooooooooo HOT in this movie, so hot, Jack Tripper knuckle bite hot.
The shot of her shape outlined by a thin bed sheet is one of the hottest shots in cinema history. It's hotter than most nude scenes. Tommy Lee Jones is aight but Jim Carrey is wonderful as the Riddler(definitely channeled Frank Gorshin from the 60's show here) In fact the whole movie felt like melding of the Burton and Adam West.
Some of it worked, some of it didn't. Still, it's pretty fun.
