Review of Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (2000) by John W — 21 May 2012
A worthy spiritual sucessor to the fantastic MASK OF THE PHANTASM. It shares its dark atmosphere, stylish animation, powerhouse voice acting particularly by Mark Hamill who gets to do his most sinister version of Joker yet (except perhaps the ARKHAM series of games) and most importantly a sophisticated and intricate plotline that involves a mystery and focus on character growth as well as discovery.
Like PHANTASM it rises above most of its live action peers, but that's not suprising from the creative team of BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES.
