Review of Batman Begins (2005) by Jacob B — 01 Jun 2017
Batman Begins. THIS is the way you start your trilogy. The film honours its source material from start to finish. Christian Bale seems to be the definitive Caped Crusader. Every time he appears on screen as Batman, I feel so freakin' pumped up.
From the badass action to his deep voice that people still enjoy imitating including Will Arnett and Ben Affleck if you know what I mean. There's this Batmobile chase where the Bat has to make it to the Batcave to give Rachel an antidote regarding weaponized hallucinogens while being pursued by Gotham's police.
It's awesome. The thing that makes Bruce Wayne so compelling is that he is a flawed character. It's not about what one is underneath, it's about what one does. That's the film's message.
The film is pretty smart and entertaining. A dark and gritty film that leaves you on the edge of your seat from start to the finish. Never have I experienced action and thrills as definitive as the ones present within this film.
Oh and of course there's also a few jokes laid in there. Perhaps not the MCU type of comedy that we have today but still, even DC's apple of their eye has to lighten the mood every once in a while.
Congratulations, Christopher Nolan, for saving Batman from eternal damnation in the form of nipples, uncomfortable crotch shots and crappy ice puns with Joel Schumacher serving as the reluctant minion of the devil known as Warner Bros.
WB fixed their mistakes with this film. I look forward to one day, getting to see The Dark Knight. Given it's 9.0/10 overall rating on IMDb, it must be more than a blast.
