Review of Batman Begins (2005) by Zach G — 03 Jul 2014
After the unabashed, incoherent mess that was Joel Schumacher's 'Batman & Robin' - AKA, the film that killed the franchise - the Caped Crusader seemed hopelessly irredeemable. Thankfully, 'Batman Begins' more than capably manages to wipe away any remaining memories of Schumacher's ultra-stylized and ludicrously ostentatious interpretation of the Dark Knight.
Nolan's realistic, somber, and pitch-black reinvention of the Batman legend crackles with a fierce and unrelenting intensity. 'Begins' breathed precious life back into the Batman mythos and gave a new generation of movie-goers a far more sophisticated and intelligent take on the legend of the Caped Crusader.
