Review of Batman & Robin (1997) by Ian C — 11 Mar 2016
I really don't want to jump on the band wagon but this is up there with the shittest films ever made. So many characters introduced at the same time and just for the sake of it. A serious, serious double twitch off Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy and Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl.
There was a hint of Joel Schumacher trying to turn Batman Forever into a feature length version of the old TV show. In Batman and Robin he somewhat achieves this but the difference is. that Adam West as Batman was enjoyable Saturday morning telly.
This is about as enjoyable as a kick in the jaffas. Clooney is terrible as Batman/Bruce Wayne, O' Donnell acts like a cuckold, Bain is embarrassing and Arnie is so badly cast as Mr. Freeze but some of his one liners are comedy gold "Ice to meet you" or "What killed the Dinosaurs? The iceage.
What killed and destroyed this franchise for the foreseeable future? Joel Schumacher.
