Review of Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero (1998) by Trevor L — 30 Jul 2008
When watching the amazing Mask of the Phantasm, I was salivating for more: "This can't be the end of Batman: The Animated Series! Please, just one more movie!". Unfortunately, I got my wish; in the thin-plotted, badly written Batman: Subzero.
Where Mask of the Phantasm felt like an exhilirating roller coaster this was more like a You-tube fan edited movie of all the mr. Freeze episodes with CGI added in. and the plot? It's not very interesting.
However, like the cartoon, the movie's strength lies in its colors and character development. I always loved how each episode looked like a cross-breed between 1940's living and 1990's technology.
If you're a Heavy duty Bat-Fan, pick this up. If not, my advice is to go get Mask of the Phantasm.
