Review of Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero (1998) by Luke B — 27 Feb 2009
Fantastic animation, as you would expect from such a groundbreaking series. This really is a Mr Freeze tale. Unlike Mask of the Phantasm, I don't feel this effort was truly justified. Phantasm expanded on origins for all major characters, it expanded on characters relationships and was highly emotional.
Here we have the whole Bat Family but none are featured heavily. Freeze is still a wonderful creation but the award winning episode from Series 1 is a lot more emotional and contains more depth. SubZero is still a great watch, it's fun, dark and fantastic to look at.
