Review of Batman (1989) by Tristan M — 25 Apr 2015
I've never been much of a superhero fan, all the powers and stuff doesn't go well with me but for some reason all the gadgets in this franchise do. This is without a doubt the best movie in the Batman series, unless you are counting the Dark Knight movies which I would say are better.
The story is really good, shows the beginning of the Joker but not of Batman, who is still mysterious. The Joker is crazy, and props to Jack who did a great job playing the joker, and is without a doubt the best actor in the film.
It has an overall old feel to it, maybe older than it should feel but that's not a problem. The action is ok, nothing special, with the effects decent but nothing exciting either. The batmobile looks great, but could have had more screen time.
The biggest problem u find is not with the film itself, but with the way it leaves the sequels. Even though the fight at the end in the bell tower was awesome and one of the highlights, killing of the Joker in his first appearance is disappointing.
This is the best of the original movies because of him, Batman's most famous adversary, and it would have helped the original franchise greatly to have at least one other film playing his role. Other than that it's a great movie, well done, greatly acted, and not counting the new Dark Knight movies, my favourite superhero flick for sure.
Wish the sequels could have stood up better.
