Review of Batman (1989) by Dylan M — 28 Oct 2015
Was I overly impressed with Batman, no, did I like it yes. Batman gives a good, look at one of the most iconic superheroes in an interesting way. This movie has a lot of nostalgic feeling to it. The effects might not hold up but I like the look of Batman and his utilities.
The atmosphere of the movie is great. I like Burton's dark gloomy perception of Gotham. The story Tim Burton plays out is average, nothing special but in the film, we see some cool action scenes and banter between the Joker and Batman.
As for the characters, Michael Keaton gives a good performance as Batman. Although I found his Bruce Wayne a little dull and sub par, I really liked Jack Nicholson's Joker. Crazy, funny, and energetic.
Kim Basinger and Robert Wuhl's parts annoyed me. Every time they were on screen I got bored and wanted to see more Batman. Batman had a exciting enough plot, cool action sequences and compelling characters to make this an entertaining film for all comic book, and superhero fans.
Its a fun film to watch on a rainy day that brings much joy to me.
