Review of Bassidji (2009) by Matthew L — 07 Apr 2010
Meandering, fatally formless documentary about Iran's religious militia, the Bassidji, and their role in maintaining the traditions and religious values of Islam. The subjects provide fascinating insight into the culture and its core value, but the film is poorly structured, with little regard for solid technique or form.
It's slapdash nature is hugely detrimental to its impact.
