Review of Basquiat (1996) by Bester L — 19 Nov 2007
At one point Basquiat, strung out and giddy, "imagines" a tire on the floor in front of him, and giggles. Then he imagines more tires, stacked on top of each other, and giggles some more. Then he thinks it'll look even cooler if one side of the stack of tires were painted white, and laughs one more time before slumping back into his preferred state of emotional catatonia, his work now finished.
If there's a more succinct cinematic explanation of pomo art, I haven't seen it.
