Review of Basquiat (1996) by Shawn A — 29 Jun 2008
Andy Warhol has his own genre and though many of these movies feature a different artist or person around Warhol, ultimately they seem made just because of him. This movie falls into that category. The second Warhol dies, so does the story.
It was a shame that such an amazing cast couldn't save this movie. There was a forced artistic style that I could connect with only part of the time. I must admit there were definately moments I enjoyed and it was fun seeing some of the best actors all together so I can't say it was a waste.
