Review of Basquiat (1996) by Chris H — 09 Apr 2009
A stellar cast can't save this disappointing film, despite an amusing cameo from David Bowie as Andy Warhol. It's always difficult to portray the life of an artist in an interesting way and it doesn't help that Basquiat doesn't come across as a particularly sympathetic character.
An oddity and significant mainly for being the first film of director Julian Schnabel, who would move onto greater things.
