Review of Basquiat (1996) by Heirda H — 13 Nov 2007
I've seen too many biopics like this. Of course it is a bit more artsy fartsy than some, but it doesn't set itself apart enough. Jeffrey Wright did a decent job, but he didn't sell me. Meanwhile, Bowie's always better just playing himself, so it's no surprise him as Warhol almost comes off as a comedic impression instead of what it should have been.
Oldman does a decent job, but Hopper is simply miscast.
