Review of Basket Case 2 (1990) by Cli O — 03 Nov 2008
Not a bad installment in the Basket Case family. This one is less gory than expected. Still, the makers of this (see Frankenhooker and Brain Dead) know how to strike a unsettling chord. Through all the bad acting and cheap costumes lay a deeply disturbing look at a thalidomide house that begs the question "Who really is the freak in a house of freaks?".
Like Tod Browning's brilliant "Freaks", this attempts to answer that question... just not as effectively.
