Review of Basket Case (1982) by Bob O — 05 Nov 2007
In Frank Henelotterâ??s BASKET CASE, there seem to an awful lot of people asking Duane Bradley â??Whatâ??s in the basketâ??. You see, Duane carries around a small wicker basket with him wherever he goes and he moves into a seedy apartment somewhere in New York.
People die in horrible ways. No, Iâ??m not going to tell you whatâ??s in the basket sucker, so go see for yourself. Thereâ??s a small amount of shaky stop-animation to be found as well. Thereâ??s alot of bloodshed going on as well.
BASKET CASE, like a few of my other favorite early 80s Horror movies, showcases New York as it was before Rudy Giuliani cleaned it all up. This movie is a cornerstone of a time in NYC thatâ??s unfortunately long gone.
Itâ??s good stuff. Trust me. Followed by two sequels. See it.
