Review of Basic Instinct 2 (2006) by Sue B — 12 Apr 2011
Basic indeed.
Laughable, long overdue desperate sequel, with an English supporting cast. Silly, almost funny and painfully drawn out, attempting to be like the classic first. Stone and co do a commendable job in an almost pointless sequel, trying to be more modern and stylish, but ending up more of a predictable flop - again seeing film makers in favour of making dodgy sequels, rather than develop new ideas. Avoid, not that you need telling, but I did secretly enjoy this trashy garbage more than I expected. Easy, like Catherine Tramell!
The film is set in London, has a cameo by ex footballer Collymore, and resembles something like Prime Suspect or similar. Say no more.
