Review of Basic Instinct (1992) by Maggie Z — 30 May 2012
While I enjoyed the film, I have to question writer Joe Eszterhas. Yes, he writes thrillers the "same way" - the last shot / the last line is the big reveal - This works nicely at times, but I must ask this question: Why was the ending of "Basic Instinct" called one of the best twist endings of all time? I had no idea what it was going to be (I avoided spoilers), but from the getgo, I figured it out.
What a twist?
